Why the Sabbath does not operate on Lunar Cycles

This is a less common belief that has seeped into Christianity in some areas today, mostly the Messianic Jewish community. It reasons that the Sabbath is not based on a continuous cycle of seven days, but that every New Moon is the Sabbath, and every seventh day afterwards; causing a monthly "reset" of the 7 day cycle in accordance with the moon's quarters.

                                          Response to the Misconception;

The Sabbath by the Moon does not consider every new Moon to be the Sabbath and every 7th day afterwards! This is a Misconception!

                                        Correction;

                  The New Moon is "Roshe Ha-Chodesh" called the New Moon in english and is not a Seventh day Sabbath! But it is a no work day, and a no business day thus upsetting those so-called Christians that are in the Commercial world of business as it did eventually for the jews who wondered when the New Moon would be gone so that they could buy and sell corn and get gain! See Amos 8: 5. And furthermore the six working days are not numbered until the morrow after the "New Moon"! See Ezekiel 46: 1 The 6 working days were not numbered with the New Moon nor were they numbered with the Sabbath day. Thus Making the New Moon a day of non working as well as the Sabbath was. 

                                       Miss Conception # 2.

Most of the cause for this belief is taken from many and varied sources of 'history,' with very few biblical references. The basic biblical reason for this belief, is that Sabbaths and New Moons were mentioned together often. Below I will go into the refutation of this belief, and why the Sabbath is - from a strictly biblical standpoint - every seventh day of the week in five summary points.

                                     Correction of Missconception #2.

                                                  as follows;

                   The observance of the New Moon and of the Sabbath is taken entirely from the Holy Scriptures that always Identified the Seventh day of the week with the Calendar by the Moon as per se: The 8th day of the Moon, The 15th day of the Moon, the 22cd day of the Moon, and the 29th day of the Moon, Thus the 7th day Sabbath was always Identified in the Holy Scriptures with the days of the Moon, instead of a fictituos Artificial Saturnsday or a Sunday and etc. This belief does not base its reasoning upon their being mentioned together, but on their , Identification always being the certain day of the Moon , instead of Identifying with any other numbering system whatsoever! Thus it is conclusive since the 7th day is never once mentioned in the entire scripture as being a Saturnday that it never was Identified with any other type of measureing device other than the Moon which is so faithful to appear and keep a perfect 7 day pattern every since it was created to do so at creation by the creator hisself.

                                            Misconception #3.

Firstly, a large part of the case rests on pure assumption.

                                   There is no assumption whatsoever! It is Scriptures properly applied to Identify Yahweh's Calendar from creation as the Moon by the Scriptures Identify that the 8th, 15th, 22cd and the 29th days of the "Moon" are to be the 4 , seven day phases of the Moon, and Identified many times over in the Scriptures as the 7th day Sabbath that is to be marked and remembered.<<<<<<

                                            Misconception #4.

 For example, it is assumption that the Sabbath and New Moon being mentioned in conjunction, means they are the same day.

                  This is another misconception , it is never reasoned in this mannor whatsoever! So this is not only a False Conception it is also a lie!<<<<<<<

                                            Misapplication following! 

Tithes and Offerings are mentioned in the same place always, are they then the same thing?

                                            Missapplication  following!

The reason, we would find, that the Sabbath and New Moon are mentioned together so often is that they are kept in the same manner - no work done therein - and not that they are of a neccessity the same day.

                                            Missapplication Missappropriation!

                                                    Arguement is vain, because it is not an Arguement used !

                                            Misconception #4. as follows!

Secondly, the biblical differences between the Sabbath and the feast days, which are kept by the moon, need only be looked into shortly to be found. Because they are mentioned in conjunction, again, does not make them the same day or even *neccesarily* kept in the same manner. The feasts were all appointed dates on the calender, as governed by the moon. The Sabbath was given no such date, it was "The seventh day." <<<correction follows>>>

                   Leviticus 23:2-3 names the 7th day Sabbath one of the feasts of Yahweh at puts no difference in it and in them, and the word for "feasts" in these to verses is the same word as used in Psalms 104:19 which says the "moon " was made for these moeds "feasts " of which the Sabbath again is named as one of those Moeds "feasts" mentioned in Leviticus 23: 2-3 thus your misconception in this arguement is  null and void in that it lacks any merit in what has been said !

                   And in Exodus 16 : 1-26 this chapter outlines the seventh day as being the 8, 15th, 22cd and the 29th of the days of the Moon, and not of any other type calendar.<<<>>

                                                Missconception #5. as follows!

Thirdly, the reasons given for the Sabbath negate any possibility of the day being dependant on lunar cycles or being reset once a month. "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:2-3) The very institution of the Sabbath was as a memorial for Creation week. If we shift the days by the lunar cycles, we are no longer keeping a memorial to that week, but something different entirely.<<end>>

                                             Correction of misconception!

                    Again this missconception is base upon false information as to the facts related to us in Genesis 1:1 where it says "In the beginning" This is the beginning is a time place and day before day one "yom echad" ever begin! this word Beginning in the Hebrew is "Reshshith" or short form "Rosh" meaning first in time place and rank, thus putting it before the first work day of creation, and thus aggrees with Genesis 1: 14 where it says that one of the great lights which was the Moon was made for days and for moeds "appointments" and for beacons of evidence of which the Moon is the only beacon in the heavens that we see that gives us a beacon for a calendar to remember the real days of Yahweh by!

                  Thus the first week of creation was Identified by the Moon just as it is to this day!<<<<<<<<<<<

                                                   Missconception #6 correction as follows!

Fourthly, the Sabbath commandment itself in Exodus 20 excludes a resetting of days: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Exodus 20:9-11)

"Six days shalt thou labour," passing by the verses in the commandment itself that back up the previous point. If the days are reset in the New Moon, we are not labouring 6 days. We are labouring a lesser amount of days, dependant on how close the last Sabbath was to the New Moon, and then starting the cycle over again. In itself this practice breaks the fourth commandment.<<<<<<<<<<<end >>

                                                  Correction!

                     The New Moon never interrupts a six days of work cycle!

                      Since the New Moon is Yahweh's Creation and it is his Calendar for all peoples and for all places and for all times he has a right to start a new Moon over and over and over again ! and He has "marked " his Sabbaths by the beacons of the Moon so that if a person wishes to follow his instructions to "remember " The Sabbath day to keep it Holy then the Moon has "marked " the Holy Seventh Day Sabbath and for us to remember it all we have to do is watch the Beacons of Evidence established by the Creator of the Moon himself for that purpose, to remember the Sabbath as he ordained it to be done!

                        But remembering it on a Saturnsday is not remembering it the way Yahweh Identified it to beremmebered! For not one place in the entire scriptures is the Sabbath day Identified by calling it Saturnsday! but rather it is Identified by calling it the 8th, 15th , 22cd and the 29th of the MOon! what a conincidence for this to be! The Moon is the faithful witness to all those who know and believe in the scriptures and what they have told us!<<< 

                                              Missconception #7 and correction!

And finally, the Pentecost (50-count, literally) numbering. This is perhaps the most obvious and simple refutation of the Lunar concept of the Sabbath. "And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord." (Lev. 23:15-16)

                          NOTICE: After the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days! NOT TO INCLUDE THE 7TH SABBATH IN THE FIFTY DAYS! WERE NOT TO START COUNTING THE 5O DAYS UNTIL AFTER THE 7TH SABBATH! NOTICE!

Now, 7x7 is 49. We all know this. Here is where the problem according to Lunar reckoning comes into play : In those 50 days, between the 16th of Nissan (The wave / sheaf offering, the day after the beginning of unleavened bread) and the 6th of Sivan (Pentecost, the "new meat offering" spoken of above) are two New Moons: The beginning of Iyyar, and the beginning of Sivan.

                        NOTICE : AGAIN NOTICE THE 5O DAYS WAS NOT TO INCLUDE THE 7TH SABBATH, THEY WERE NOT TO START COUNTING UNTIL AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH WAS PAST!

By lunar reckoning, the Sabbath would be offset from a continuous 7 day cycle by these New Moons, this much we know. However, by that same reasoning, it is mathmatically impossible to arrive at *exactly* 50 days after the Sheaf offering, on the *exact* day after the 7th Sabbath from the Sheaf offering, as this chart, created by David, shows.

Put simply: Only by 7 unbroken cycles of 7, transcending two New Moons, can the commandment regarding the feast of Pentecost be fulfilled. There is a double criteria given by YHWH: Seven Sabbaths pass, and the day after the seventh, is 50 days. 7x7=49, meeting the standard perfectly.
